Money
is one of the most important part our life. Managing money efficiently is
crucial as much as earning a lot of money. Therefore, recently a debate about
being a financially responsible adult has been brought about. While a sizable
number of populace might assert that managing money since young is not an
effective way to be a financially responsible adult, without a shadow of doubt
such notion needs to be reconsidered. There are several reasons to validate
this.
First and foremost, making a
habit is important. There is a saying; 2 years old boy’s habit never changes
until he becomes 80 years old. Like this, it is very difficult to change life
style. Thus, it is considerable to settle one’s habit in a good manner since
young. By learning how to save money and use it effectively at a young age, children
are able to economically manage big amount of money in the future through the
accumulation of habits. For example, according to the research conducted by
Seoul National University, it stated that more than 73% of children who wrote
money diary and saved coins since young became rich in the future. Since young,
they had a habit of buying products after serious consideration and some of
them even bought a laptop using a coin they saved for a long time. After they
grew up, they could easily handle big amount of money and make smart
investment.
What is more compelling is that,
children can know the importance of money. These days, since most parents give
a lot of allowance to their children, they do not know how hard it is to earn
money. As a result, a lot of children do not regard money seriously but just
waste it. When children do not notice economical concept since young, it is
hard to be formed even they become adult. They will be more likely to waste
money and not have responsibility on financial problems. For example, my friend
is the only child. He got money from parents whenever he wanted to. Until he
became adult he did not know how crucial it is to save money. Fortunately he
earned a lot of money, but he spent all the money and did not save any money. Few
years later, he met beautiful woman and wanted to marry. However since he did
not save any money, there was no way for him to buy house and prepare for
marriage. If he learned how to manage money since young this may not happen to
him.
From the above assessments and
substantiations, the fact that to be a financially responsible adult, children
should manage their own money at a young age seems more convincing. Not only because
making habit is important but also because children can know the importance of
money.
