▶ Your Answer :
In a modern society, having a satisfying
job is crucial to function as a successful adult. People have different
opinions on whether we should try various jobs before deciding a life-long career.
In my view, it is beneficial for us to explore a variety of jobs and then
choose a real career for two major reasons I will lay out below.
First of all, people figure out what type of
career fits them in the course of experiencing different jobs. For those who haven’t found their true
interests, the time they go through available jobs for them will be valuable
opportunities to discover what they like. Even for the people who have passion
for a certain field, by working in various types of workplaces, they will be
able to confirm that is what they really want. According to the research
conducted Seoul National University, people who had part time jobs or worked as
intern at college or high schools tend to have higher satisfaction for their
current job. The one of research participants said that she was able to find
out the most suitable job for her while having many different jobs as
waitreess, teacher, and research assistant. She realized teaching was her
calling and became a middle school teacher.
Secondly,
trying a variety of jobs maks us build a interesting social network containing
people with different background. We are likely to spend time with coworkers at
work and friends fromcollege most of time. They give us a sence of belongings
but are not the best people to broaden our horizen. In my case, I worked as a
dancer and yoga instructor before I became a high school teacher. I still keep
in touch with my former dancer and yogis friends and they enrich my social
life. We go to dance performance together and sometimes invite me to their
professional events. My colleagues tend to be nice but a little too
conservative for me so my dancer and yoga friends are always refreshment for
me.
In sum, in order to figure out the best job
for us and have a good social life, it is better to try different career before
choosing a life-time job.
