▶ Your Answer : Opinions might be divided over whether people's freedom could be limited in specific situation. People from different walks of life may take different stances on this contentious issue. Personally, I believe that it is possible to restrict people's freedom. There are two reasons that could validate my opinion. First of all, social safety and order are more important factors than unlimited freedom. Disorder which can be caused by unlimited freedom can lead our society in danger. Furthermore, this situation can not guarantee to save our lives and properties. Considering these aspects, people allowed the restriction of freedom on limited situation. The evidence for this comes from a research by the law school of Korean University. According to on of their studies, the researchers surveyed 1,000 adults aged over 18, and the study reported that the 78 percent of respondents agreed with the limitation of freedom. In addition, analyzing the reasons for the respondents' agreements, the researchers found that they did not want to be interfered and to be threatened by others. This explains that freedom can be restricted for social safety every now and then. On top of that, though the freedom is the most important value in present society, people have to narrowly exercise their right. If other people feel uncomfortable or are legally interupted from others, their freedom can not be justified. Consequently, the freedom has to be restricted. My experience demonstrates this concept. When my family had a dinner at the restaurent to celerbrate mother's birthday, those people who seated near us started to smoke on their table. Even though we requested them to stop smoking, they ignored our requestion. As a result, we had to move our table, with unpleasant feeling about this situation. This experience expains that it is need to limit people's freedom. To sum up, if people's freedom were allowed without limit, others' rights could be disturbed by them. In these regard, people's freedom should be sometimes infringed for social safety and other's right. |
