▶ Your Answer : Some people believe that being able to work with other people is more important than in the past, while others do not think in this way. Both sides may have their own reasons to support their views. I strongly believe that nowadays, it is more crucial to work with other people than before. There are several reasons as follows.
To beign with, having abilities to work with others helps people to improve their performance. Today's society is becoming more and more complicated, so it is difficult to specialize in extensive fileds. For this reason, these days, many companies are requiring people team works, so they have to be cooperative and be able to perform with other people who have different majors. Accordingly, when they have a great ability to do tasks with diverse people, they would move forward in their companies. For instance, many researcher teams, including Tokyo Research Center, analyzed data from two groups of workers. One group consisted of those who studied in a school that encouraged students to study with other students and discuss and the other group was made up of those who did in a school where teachers just provided students lecture-style classes. The researchers found that the former was more likely to have a higher annual income than the latter. This is because most of the first group showed better task-performing skills when they have to deal with many team projects. This clearly shows that nowadays, the ability to perform with others may be the key to success professionally.
On top of that, being able to work with others enables people to adapt today's diverse environment. These days, people should often go international bussiness tirps and be accustomed to various cultures. having ability to complete tasks with others requires them to acknowledge that different values exist, to understand this diversity, and to be ultimatly comfortable with it. By having this, they are able to understand a diversity of cultures and this is more important than in the past. Let me bring up my personal example to verify my contention. When I worked as an engineer, I had a chance to meet indian coworkers who often ate their meals with bare hands. At that time, I felt uncomfortable by their behavior ,so it is hard to work with them and Korean coworkers thought so too. This had a negative impact on my company projects. What happened was that Indian workers didn't also want to communicate with Koreans because they thought Koreans have a prejudice against indians and lack in cultural understanding. Naturally, my company experienced a rapid drop in company profits. If I had realized that we had a lot in common and tried to get used to their culture, my company could have increased revenue.
All things considered, I would firmly assert that the ability to perform tasks with others is more important these days than in the past for the reason I have mentioned above. |
