▶ Your Answer : Some people say that a teacher's income ought to be measured by his or her students' acheivement. However, in my opinion, the amount of money teachers earn should not depend on academic result of their pupils. Because it will give too much stress and there are also other important factors that can be helpful to students.
To begin with, it can be too stressful to the both teachers and students and in the end, student performance will actually be worse. It is obvious that it will be extremely competitive for teachers if their salary is estimated in the proposed way, and this will negatively affect not only teachers but also their class members with extreme tension. A study was conducted by Seoul University to determine whether competition gives bad impact on people who study. They tracked 500 students for over 3 year period and what they found was intriguing. The people who studied with competing achieved remarkably worse results than others who studied without it. Since it brought a lot of stress to their classrooms, it was hard to just focus on studying in the nerved environment. This proves that it influences bad on their performance.
On top of that, there are many important values for students to learn. If the system becomes like suggested, then everything in class will only work for student test outcome. Then, they will end up looking down on other significant things such as cooperation, friendship and so on. For example, when I was a high school student, my school was trying to retrieve their fame that they support students so that they can enter the best university in Korea. Eventually, they succeeded to attend the university. However, the students caused many problems outside of school and it also earned name that it was filled with bad people. This demonstrate that the school should not only concentrate on academic result.
To sum up, with the proposed idea the result can be worse and at the same time improtant factors for pupils can be underestimated. In this regard, I firmly belive that measuring teacher's earnings relying on student performance is not appropriate.
