Some
people might think that young people nowadays do not help a local community, while
others might not. Both sides have their own reasons to support their views. However,
in my perspective, I would say that young generations are more willing to help a
local society in these days. There are several reasons as follows.
To
begin with, it is imperative for young one to lend his hand to local society when
finding a job. As current job market has become more competitive, many companies
requires candidates to have a wide array of experiences that will promote them to
work well as a team. This trend encourages job candidates to participate in various
activities that they can help local communities. For instance, a research was conducted
by Stanford Business School to find current trend of potential employees. Researchers
tracked over six thousand job candidates for 5 years. What they found was intriguing.
The average volunteer hours of job interviewee had been increased by 34%. The most
contributing factor of this trend is the requirement of enterprises. In other words,
various experiences on social activities were inspired not only by the government
institutes, but also by private enterprises. Both institutes and firms has regarded
that employees with wide range of social experiences will be beneficial to teamwork,
eventually contributing to the revenue of firm.
In
addition, young people can feel a strong sense of belonging to the society, leading
them to be passionate at helping a local community. Generally speaking, young people
become isolated and felt loneliness as individualism has been overflowed in these
days. On the other hand, they can feel storng bondage to society while they offer
their help to society, leading them to feel free from loneliness. For example, when
my sister was in high school, she often felt distracted thinking that her life became
an exhausting routine. She thought that she should spend her entire time to study,
hoping that she could outdo others. It actually did not go well since every other
classmates put same amount of efforts on studying as she did. However, when she
accidently joined in a volunteer club, the whole situation was changed. She did
household chores for elders while she was in that club, and she soon became felt
a sense of achievement escaping from daily study routine. Furthurmore, she could
socialize with other peer groups in that club, contributing to refresh her mind
and to feel strong sene of belonging.
