The reading passage and the lecture both talk about flexible working hours. The author of reading believes that there are three kinds of benefits on flexible working hours. However, the lecturer rebuffs that reading passage’s arguments by giving three convincing evidences.
To start with, the lecturer claims that companies could lose money conducting flexible working hours. This is because, if every employees has different working time, there is no enough employees working during other companies’ business hour. Furthermore, holding team meetings or doing group projects are almost not possible. This goes against the author’s point that flexible working hours allow employer to hire best employees.
On top of that, the speaker assert that employees are not happy. Since everybody comes to work at the different time, they often feel isolated at work. Not working together means they can not work as a group. Therefore, it is very hard for employees to become friends. However, this contradicts the writer’s assertion that employees will have best work results and satisfy on their lives since they can manage their own time.
Finally, the lecturer mentions that flexible work hours don’t guarantee more time to spend with family. This is because, people set their working hours not the same way their family do. Consequently, the family cannot spend time together and it can cause lack of quality time with their family. This counters reading passage’s view that employees are able to improve their lives by spending quality time with family. |
