▶ Your Answer : There might be some people who believe that students can study effectively by using smart devices. However, in my opinion, using smart devices is not helpful for students at all. First, they cannot concentrate on studying while using smart devices. Second, it is too expensive to study by using smart devices. To begin with, there are many distractions to study by using smart devices such as smartphones, and tablet PCs. We can do lots of things by using them, for example, We can play games, and watch movies on smartphone in anywhere. Skeptics of my main line of argument may argue that this reason does not sound like a reasonable position at first sight. Nevertheless, to their dismay, there exists an abundance of examples that substantiate my claim. Here is one of them. When I was in college, I led a hectic daily life. This is because intense job competition. Joining internship programs and acquiring job certificates were required. Developing foreign language proficiency was a necessity. In this circumstance, I had really hard time to manage all of them, but I always took classes on off-line because I knew that studying with smart devices is not effective at all. However, one of my friends actually studied computer skills online by using his tablet PC, but he complained to me that he could not concentrate on studying becuase he always played games before studying. He spent more time on playing games than studying. Eventually, he did not prepare for a job, and he failed to get a job. What this means is that studying with smart devices is not effective. On top of that, students have to pay a myriad of money for studying with smart devices. At first, the price of a smartphone is about 800 dollars. The price is too high to buy for students because, usually, students have to do a part time job for two month to buy a smartphone, and it's cost is about one-third of college tuition. The representative case that I narrated above is not the only evidence to support my view. In a survey conducted recently, a significant majority of survey participants endorsed my point of view that smart devices are too expensive to use them as studying method. One college student said in the survey that he not only had to buy a smartphone, but also had to pay expensive tuition fee for online lectures. He added that he also had to pay for extra fee for wathing lectures on his smartphone, so it was not effective at all. The owner of online lecture company explained that the costs of maintaining need lots of money because he has to hire specialists to slove the server problems and maintanece. Therefore, he cannot provide online lectures cheaply. In conclusion, using smart devices is too expensive and distracting to study. For these reasons, I strongly believe that students can not learn effectively by using smart devices. |
