▶ Your Answer : Some people think that face-to-face communication is more efficient than other types of communication, such as letter, e-mail, or telephone calls, while others do not. If I have to choose one, I would say that it is better to meet directly than to contact using other methods, because it delivers messages more accurately and maintain a relationship for a long time.
To begin with, meeting in person can decrease in misunderstanding. When people talk someone in person-to-person, they usually use various communication methods, such as body posture, facial expression, or touch. By doing these, people can deliver their messages more precisely. For example, my father worked for a trading company. When he made a contract with someone, he always prefer seeing in person to contacting in e-mail. This was because every detail of contract were very important, he wanted to catch every response of others, such as nuance, personal feeling, or atmosphere in meeting room. By doing this, he could avoid any mistakes with the contract.
In addition, if people meet someone directly, people can maintain their relationship longer than when they contact with someone indirectly. Seeing someone in person, it can remember each other better and bring more familiarity. On the other hand, contacting by e-mail or phone call makes relationship superficial, because they exist to each other just in cyber or online. For example, recently Harvard university find huge differences between two groups of young adults. One group consist of those who went to a same university, an the other group was made up of those who went to a different university, and they were all in familair with each other. The researchers found that the former was more likely to keep a longer relantionship than the latter. The first group showed that they often meet directly. On the other hand, the second group showed that they just keep in touch by e-mail or phone-calls.
All things considered, I strongly believe that meeting in person is better than contacting with someone by e-mail or telephone calls, because it can communicate more accurately and maintain a longer relantionship. |
