Some people
think that the rapid growth of cities influences negatively on society to some
extent. However, contrary to that statement, I strongly believe that cities’
rapid growth affects society mostly positively. The rationale behind this is
that such development of cities broadens people’s perspective and relieve their
stress.
To
begin with, the speedy growth of cities enables people to expand their
horizons. To explain, in general, more developed the cities are, more people
they attract. It is highly likely for the citizens in the cities to meet many
other people who have different jobs, hobbies, and experiences. By sharing
creative ideas, novel thoughts, and valuable information that they have never
known before, they can have a varied points of view in life. For example, when I
was in middle school, I lived in a countryside in Korea, where a few villagers who
mostly worked on farms resided in the clean environment and calm mood. Although
I loved these surroundings at first, as time went by I felt lonely because
there were not many people to make friends. Thus, I had no choice but to live
alone, which did not know about any news from the outside. However, a decade age,
the village developed a lot of infrastructures ranging from telephone to
Internet service, and amenities for sightseeing in a short time. This attracted
tons of visitors who had diverse jobs: doctors, teachers, and professors. Since
then, I could get many chances to talk with them about their interests,
allowing me to learn about different knowledge.
On
top of that, people can blow out their stress in rapidly growing cities. To be
more specific, a large number of outsides come to the cities for their own
livings or seeking job openings. They requires numerous facilities to meet the
standard of living, such as hospitals, schools, fitness centers, and movie
theaters. Some of these provide the citizens with places for relaxation. As a result,
they can get about worries and rid of their stress. As for an instance, I dwelled
in the rural area as mentioned just before. As time passed, I entered a
university in Seoul, the capital city of Korea, which had a plenty of students
coming together from all over the country. Looking around off campus, I found
many amenities for the students such as billiard rooms, Internet cafes, and
coffee shops. Besides, within the city, there were an array of additional huge facilities:
sports stadiums, opera houses, and musical theaters and all of these were
constructed in a short period of time because of the increasing population. Thanks
to these amenities, whenever stressed out, I could easily relieve my stress.
In
conclusion, some people argues that cities growing up rapidly hold not a few problems
of public security, the gap between the rich and the poor, and so on. Nevertheless,
it is true that such city has a lot of advantages for our modern society. |
