In these days, a ton of movies is made inside of artificial sets, and a lot of images in the movies are created by computer
graphics. Although the development of modern technology can create a new
world that does not exist in real, the movies that were taken in real life have some realistic stories with
information about the country itself. By watching them, people get to know
about a country in two major aspects.
First, movies show us such
splendid sceneries of certain countries on the screen. To be specific, I know
some great movies which can see the magnificent mountain range in New Zealand,
a speechless golden wheat field in the
United States, and stunning colors of wineries in France. What I watched are
not a documentary about their nature. The
film, however, is only showing the places, but it can give people a clue as to
what the natural environment of the country looks. In other words, movies show
us the unique scenery that can only be seen
there.
Second, the movies tell us the
uniqueness of custom in the country. For instance, when you can find
peculiarities of Japanese culture in a movie, you can easily assume that a
movie has Japan as a background. I have seen the one which is related to a
costume maker in Japan. In the film, all the characters showed the way of
greeting, clothing, eating, and social interaction with the strangers
reflecting traditional Japanese customs. Having an experience of foreign
customs through on the screen made me know more about Japanese culture. Therefore,
watching movies coming to a certain culture gives viewers an idea how the
custom is in a specific society.
To conclude, movies have great
merit knowing other countries. They have lots of
must-sees and jaw-droppings. Also, they are good materials that allow us to
know the characteristic customs of the country. |
